Search for murder suspect’s cat
HAZELMERE – Residents of Hazelmere are requested to be on the lookout for Harley. Harley’s 33 year old owner, Andy Kerr was arrested on Friday (17/11/2023) after he was accused of murdering his 72-year-old mother and concealing her death for several days.
Her decomposing body was recovered in her son’s rented room after neighbours demanded a wellness check. Kerr confirmed during an interview with Police and Reaction Officers that he pushed his mother while bathing her. She fell and sustained head injuries which may have resulted in her demise. Kerr concealed her death and stayed in the room with her body for three days.
Kerr has since appeared in the Verulam Magistrates Court and has been remanded in custody at Westville Prison in Westville. He is due to make a second formal bail application this week. Kerr allegedly handed over Harley to the owner of a tuck shop in Hazelmere on the day of his arrest.
Several animal sanctuaries have attempted to locate the female cat since the incident but were unsuccessful. Please share this post and if anyone has information regarding Harley, kindly contact Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on 086 1234 333.
