SANDF members excelled during athletics championships

GAUTENG – Four members from the SA National Defence Force excelled during the African Masters Athletics Championships held at Pilditch Stadium, Pretoria, over the period 16 to 18 November 2023.

Lieutenant Colonel D.F.F. Heymans (Women 50-54 category): Broke the African Record in the High Jump: 1,49m: Gold Medal.

Lieutenant Colonel M. Strauss (Women 45-49 category): Gold Medals: Pentathlon, Discus, Javelin, Hammer Throw and Weight Throw. Silver Medal: Shot Put.

Major M. Fleming (Women 50-54 category): Gold Medals: Hammer throw and Discus. Silver Medals: Pentathlon, Shot Put and Weight Throw.

Warrant Officer Class 1 A.M.C. Maloney (Women 50-54 category): Silver Medal: 20km Race Walk
