Four (4) alleged hijackers arrested

POLOKWANE – Members of SAPS Provincial Murder and Robbery together with Provincial Tracking Team have arrested four suspects aged between 30 and 40, for cases of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of prohibited firearms with ammunition and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle, on Tuesday, 21 November 2023, at Apel Cross, in Masemola policing area.

The members were busy with their duties when they noticed a suspicious VW Golf 1 light blue in colour with four male occupants. The Police tactically approached the vehicle, and the driver sped-off at a high speed. A chase ensued until they stopped the vehicle at Apel Cross.

They searched the vehicle and found bags containing work tools such as hammers, chisels and pick head, balaclavas, gloves and one pistol with serial number filed off. It was also established that the said vehicle was also tampered with.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the team for their vigilance which led to the arrest of the suspects and preventing more crime from being committed.

The suspects will appear before Nebo Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition and Possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle. The Police investigations are still continuing.
