Bakkie & broken down vehicle overturns, R102

CANELANDS – A bakkie and a vehicle being towed on a trailer overturned on the R102 near the Canelands robots on Saturday afternoon.

Passing motorists contacted Reaction Unit South Africa from 12:25. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered a white BMW and a white Mahindra Pik Up both lying on their sides.

The driver of the bakkie informed RUSA Members that his friend’s BMW experienced mechanical failure in Tongaat. They loaded the vehicle onto a trailer and were in the process of towing it to KwaMashu when the tyre on the trailer allegedly burst.

The driver lost control of the bakkie which veered off the road and crossed the centre median before it overturned. The BMW rolled off the trailer and also landed on its side. The driver and passenger sustained moderate injuries in the accident.
