Wanted suspect arrested on railway tracks
TONGAAT – An on-duty RUSA Reaction officer who responded to an unrelated call out in Tongaat, arrested a suspicious man who was later identified as sought after criminal by Law Enforcement.
The Reaction officer was on route to a residence in Flamingo Heights to attend to a call out observed of a man on the railway tracks behaving suspiciously when noticing the marked response motorbike. The Biker then attended to the unrelated incident at the home and rode along the railway line searching for the man on his return.
He eventually spotted the male and intercepted him. Upon searching him, the Officer recovered a replica pistol and a 9mm short live ammunition tucked into his waistband. The firearm was modified to fit a single 9mm round. Medicine from a Traditional Healer was found attached to his right arm.
The suspect was placed under arrest for Unlawful Possession of Ammunition & Possession of Homemade Firearm and handed over to SAPS. It was later established that the suspect was sought after by Law Enforcement for a spate of robberies.
