BREAKING NEWS: Left to crumble under past corruption

LETHLABILE – This building was supposed to be a station for the fire fighters (Madibeng Emergency Services). It was built in 2014 and was officially opened on the 7th of May 2015, by the then Executive Mayor of Madibeng Local Municipality, Jostina Mothibe. It has never been used for its intended purpose and was left for vandalism with no upkeep nor maintenance from the municipality.

It was after the community of Letlhabile complained about the late arrival of the fire fighters when there are cases of fire in the community. Fire fighters had to respond from Brits Fire Station which was about 25km to Letlhabile and its surrounding areas.

Around R5 million was spent on the project which has gone into a crumbling waste. Till to date no one has taken responsibility for this wasteful expenditure. “Save Madibeng calls on the Executive Mayor, to investigate and bring to book anyone responsible for this wasteful expenditure. Our people continue to suffer, but money was spent and many houses continue to perish as a result of fire.” – Save Madibeng
