31 Foreigners arrested for illegal mining

GAUTENG – Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, joined by the West Rand District Executive Mayor Mr Thabiso Bovungana, is leading #OperationShanela forces through illegal mining hotspots in the West Rand District. So far 31 undocumented persons, also facing charges related to illegal mining have been arrested. The suspects’ illegal mining equipment has been seized and all illegal mining shafts were closed in the area.
