Water and Sanitation employee assassinated

INANDA – The body of a 52-year-old Ethekwini Water & Sanitation Services employee was discovered in his bakkie in an area popularly known as Ntanda this morning. A passer-by contacted RUSA at approximately 05h41 after they made the discovery. Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics were immediately dispatched and on arrival, located the deceased in the driver’s seat of a white Toyota Hilux double cab bakkie. His vehicle was still idling. Upon examination, he was found to have sustained two (2) gunshot wounds to his head. According to a witness, the unmarked Ethekwini Municipality vehicle was seen parked at the same location since yesterday afternoon (Thursday). The deceased allegedly resides in the area. The motive for the assassination has not been confirmed at this stage.
