Two (2) suspected highway robbers arrested

WONDERBOOM – Extra resources were mobilised to crackdown on robberies as well as increase police visibility on the Mabopane Highway, resulted in the arrest of two alleged highway robbers. A team of members from Organised Crime Unit conducted an operation in the hot spot area with the aim of targeting the alleged robbers. One of the members stopped next to the road with other members conducting surveillance. As he walked towards the trees, two men emerged from the tunnel that runs under the R80 with firearms pointing the member. The members on surveillance swiftly reacted and pounced on the suspects. The public is also encouraged to be vigilant when using that road and not to stop next to the road but rather drive to the nearest filling stations for stops and rest.
