Parked vehicles gutted by bush fire

TONGAAT – Ten (10) vehicles were gutted after a bush fire spread rapidly due to heavy winds on Gopalall Hurbans Road in Tongaat on Saturday afternoon. Reaction officers of the Tongaat Operations Centre received multiple calls from the public reporting the incident. Reaction officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 14:36. Ten vehicles parked on the side of the road were engulfed in flames. The vehicles belonged to customers of a Park and Fly business. Three other cars were damaged from the heat also. Firefightwers quickly battled the flames to stop any more damaged caused while the road was closed to motorists due to poor visibility. Thank you for all emergency services on scene!
