Poachers/Diesel thieves nabbed
BLACKBURN – Three men poaching on a farm in Blackburn were apprehended while stealing diesel from an excavator while on a hunting expedition during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from the farmer at approximately after midnight (00:29) requesting assistance. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered that three suspects were apprehended by the farmer and his employees while they were in the process of loading the stolen fuel into a blue Mitsubishi Pajero. A licensed hunting rifle, two pistols, ammunition and a bloodied hunting knife were recovered in their possession. According to the farmer, the suspects confirmed that they regularly poach in the surrounding cane fields. One of the accused is a Paramedic. The suspects were released after waiting three and a half hours for Police to attend.
