Operational success during illegal mining operations

ROODEPOORT – An operation was planned by the members of JMPD and Private security and the MMC of public safety. The operation was to focus on illegal miners in Creswell park. The operational team proceeded to the said location on arrival the illegal miners started running on foot and jumping into deep holes that they had dug. The officers could not follow as it was too dangerous to jump into a deep hole. One female a Zimbabwean national was arrested by the team in the bushes in possession of explosives and another male suspect a Lesotho national was arrested at a house he had run into and was also found in possession of explosives. SAPS bomb disposal was summoned to the scene and the explosives were collected. The suspects were detained at Roodepoort SAPS possession of explosives and being Illegal immigrants. The phendukas and gold sand was booked at Roodeport SAP13.
