One killed and another injured in drive-by shooting

UMHLANGA ROCKS – One person was killed and a second individual injured in a drive-by shooting on Lighthouse Road near Oceans Mall in Umhlanga Rocks a short while ago. A witness contacted reaction officers, requesting urgent assistance. According to the frantic caller, the driver of a silver BMW was fired upon by the occupants of a second silver BMW. The critically injured driver thereafter collided into a light pole. Reaction officers and medics were immediately dispatched and on arrival discovered First Responders in attendance. The driver of the vehicle was confirmed to be fatally injured while his passenger was being treated for a gunshot wound to his neck & leg by Medics from a private ambulance service. Several high calibre spent cartridges were recovered at the scene. The motive for the shooting has not been established at this stage.
