Vehicle accident leaves three seriously injured, one dead

WATERLOO – One person was killed and three others seriously injured after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a tree on the M27 in the vicinity of Waterloo. Passing motorists contacted Reaction Unit South Africa for assistance at approximately 13:32 on Sunday afternoon.

Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival discovered an extensively damaged blue VW Polo. Three occupants were removed from the vehicle by the public prior to the arrival of First Responders. A fourth person was extricated by Fire Fighters.

One person was fatally injured. Paramedics treated three other men for their injuries before transporting them to hospital. It could not be confirmed who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. It is believed that the driver was unable to negotiate a bend when the vehicle left the road and collided into a tree.
