House saved from fire in Melodie

HARTBEESPOORT – The harties volunteer rescue team recieved a frantic call to a fire at a home in the Melodie area and immediately headed out. On arrival at the scene, neighbours and Eagle Towing were busy trying to extinguish the fire.
After harties volunteer and rescue gained entry to the house, the first thing noted was a gas stove inside the buring home. They immediately got the gas cylinder disconnected and removed it from the home.
Meanwhile searching for a hosepipe, a bucket was used to start and douse the fire. When a hose arrived, the fire was able to be extinguished. AfriForum Hartbeespoort volunteer firefighters also arrived on scene followed shortly by Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Service and station 21 who came to make sure there was no more risk and to check on the family. Thank you to all the people on scene from street watchers, neighbours and passerby’s who offered help, including all emergency services who helped the family not lose their home. Well done gents!
