Two suspects arrested at border – dealing in dagga

NELSPRUIT – Members from Oshoek Border Policing arrested two male suspects from the Kingdom of Eswatini, aged 27 and 44 on charges of dealing in dagga worth more than R385 000. According to the report, the two were arrested at the Oshoek Port of Entry around 06:00 on Friday, 14 July 2023. The arrest was effected during the time when the pair, driving through the border, tried to smuggle a consignment of dagga from the Kingdom of Eswatini into South Africa.
However the members were on guard and whilst searching the white Hino truck with registration number plates from the Kingdom of Eswatini, they noticed something sinister inside the handcraft items they were transporting. When further inspecting the concealed items, the astute members discovered dagga weighing about 91,80 kilograms with an estimated street value of about R385,560. The two men are due to appear in the Chief Albert Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 July 2023 facing the said charges.
