Two guards injured in CIT heist
PRETORIA – An unknown number of armed suspects targeted the cash van on Watermeyer and Rossouw Streets near the N4, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The road had to be closed to allow emergency services to clear the scene. A number of armed suspects intercepted a cash in transit armoured vehicle, before blowing it up and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The security guard managed to get out before it blew up. The suspects fled in a white BMW and a white Toyota Hilux. The BMW has been found in Equestria.
Paramedics responded to the scene to find the carcass of the armoured vehicle occupying the width of the roadway. Two security officers sustained moderate injuries and were treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care. The robbery is being investigated by SAPS.
