Sewage pipe-line causes sinkhole in Rutgers street

BRITS – A sinkhole has caused quite a predicament for motorists in Rutgers street near ‘Stokkiesdraai’ in Brits. A dangerous sinkhole formed due to a main sewage line that collapsed underneath the road. Maintenance teams from the Madibeng Municipality are still busy assessing the damage before they can repair the sewage line. Then only will SANRAL be able to repair the damages the sinkhole caused to the road. This can turn into a ongoing problem as it’s already been a week with no maintenance as yet. Motorists including truck drivers are advised to drive with caution in the area to avoid any collisions with oncoming traffic. There is no exact date given at the moment when the sinkhole will be repaired and the road restored to a safe drivable state.
