Loadshedding Blamed for house fires

DURBAN – Six (6) homes were destroyed after a fire ravaged an informal area in Mhlasini yesterday afternoon. Reaction Unit South Africa received multiple calls for assistance from 19:54. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival discovered six homes engulfed in flames. The Ethekwini Fire & Emergency Services arrived on scene shortly thereafter and extinguished the blaze. It was alleged that the fire started in one of the homes after electricity was restored following scheduled loadshedding. The fire spread rapidly to nearby houses. No injuries were reported.
