High calibre weapon used in execution

EMONA – A high calibre rifle was used in the execution of a man seated in his vehicle in Emona. Residents contacted RUSA Tongaat Operations Centre at approximately 18:24 reporting rapid gun fire in the area. The callers were unable to confirm the exact location of the shooting. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and patrolled the area until they discovered a bullet riddled VW Golf. The driver’s lifeless body was slumped in his seat. He was shot multiple times. It was established that the man was parked on the road waiting for a friend when the occupants of an unknown vehicle opened fire on him. Several rifle cartridges were recovered at the scene. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.
