Suspects arrested for stealing street pole

EASTBURY – Two Suspects were arrested Grove End after a fully functional street light pole was chopped and removed from the ground. The two Indian male suspects were chopping a steel light pole which is part of municipal property on Grove end Drive, Phoenix. The fully functional Street Light pole was then taken by the two suspects and they were making their way to a scrapyard in the vicinity of Eastbury.

The suspects were being monitored by residents and called for the assistance of reaction officers who after a foot chase managed to apprehend the two suspects and recover the light pole. Saps officers attended the scene and the suspects and stolen property was handed over to them for further processing, the suspects alledged that they receive R120 per lightpole and are also known drug users in the area.
