Driver killed in high impact up hill collision

SOUTHRIDGE – A man was killed in a high impact collision on Old Main Road in Southridge this weekend. RUSA arrived on scene and discovered the lifeless body of a man lying on the road. It was established that a grey Chevrolet bakkie was travelling behind a blue Renault Triber when the driver of the bakkie attempted to overtake while proceeding up hill.
The bakkie collided head on into a red Citroen that was travelling in the opposite direction before it spun and crashed into the Renault Triber. The occupant of the Citroen sustained life threatening injuries and demised on scene. The driver of the Opel Corsa bakkie was heavily intoxicated. He sustained severe injuries. The Mozambican national was stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital by ambulance. The driver of the Renault Triber sustained minor injuries.
