BREAKING NEWS: R14 million counterfeit goods confiscated in Rustenburg Mall

RUSTENBURG – In efforts to eradicate and intercept the illegal dealings of counterfeit goods, the police have made another breakthrough when four (4) suspects were apprehended for dealing in counterfeit goods during the High Density Operation conducted at Rustenburg. The multi-disciplinary density operation that was conducted by the Provincial Commercial Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU), Rustenburg Crime Intelligence (CI), South African Revenue Services (SARS), Customs as well as Law Firms, led to raiding of nine shops at City Square Shopping Centre as well as Rustenburg Mall. During the search, counterfeit goods ranging from clothing, shoes, jewellery, perfumes and handbags were confiscated. Some of the owners fled and abandoned their shops during the raid. All four suspects were each issued with a fine of R1500.00. The estimated value of all confiscated good is R14 million.
