Injured hiker airlifted after falling during group hike
HARTBEESPOORT – HEMS received a call of an injured hiker in the Hartbeespoort area. A group of hikers was exploring the area when one of the hikers slipped and fell injuring his back. HEMS and Station21 Fire & Rescue responded to the call. The rescue team drove up the mountain as far as possible and hiked the rest of the way to the hiking party, to assist the injured hiker. The patient was treated on top op the mountain and airlifted with an emergency medical helicopter to an appropriate hospital.
