Five people dead, 48 injured after bus overturned

SWELLENDAM – Five people have died when a bus overturned on the N2 near Swellendam in the Overberg area. Forty-eight other people sustained varying degrees of injuries when the bus driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Spokesperson for the Western Cape Department of Mobility, Jandre Bakker, has urged road users to be vigilant this long weekend:

“We wish to extend our condolences to the families of the deceased. We wish the injured a speedy recovery. A reminder to all to be extra vigilant on our roads this long weekend. Provincial Traffic Services are out in full force, as every day of the year, but we need the support of each road user.”
