Madibeng Mayor Cllr Douglas Maimane engages the community of ward 40
SONOP – Mayor Cllr Douglas Maimane, on Saturday 18 March 2023 met with the community of Ward 40 in a meeting held at the Sonop Community hall. The engagement was part of the Office of the Executive Mayor’s outreach programme, the Mayoral Imbizo which is utilized as a tool to grant residents a platform to voice their service delivery issues through a question and answer session.
Granted opportunity to speak, the community pleaded with the Mayor to intervene in numerous matters, among them, the formalization process, allocation of RDP housing, youth unemployment, construction of a high school, extension of operating hours for the local clinic, poor conditions of internal roads and street lights among others.
In responding to the issues raised, Mayor Maimane assured the community that the Municipality will work around the clock to see to it that issues raised are addressed as he mandated the relevant MMCs to attend to them (community issues) as soon as possible. These included maintenance of the internal roads, repairs of the street lights, the inclusion of a construction of a new community hall into the IDP in Regorogile and the establishment of Housing Committee which will look at multiple matters involving formalization, allocation of RDP Houses and subsequent issuing of title deeds.
Through the existing inter-governmental relations channels, engagements with provincial government departments on matters such as construction of high school, clinic operating hours and other functions under their ambit will continue with community receiving feedback at a later stage.
