Unions threaten with third strike day over wage disputes
GAUTENG – Labour unions Cosatu, Saftu and Fedusa have threatened for a third strike day on Friday, 2 December 2022, as the Government refuses to meet their wage increase demands. The threats of a new strike action follows a march to the offices of the National Treasury in Pretoria last week. While the global rating agency Fitch announced it had decided to keep its rating of South Africa unchanged at BB-/51.4. Fitch says that the standoff threatens the country’s debt servicing outlook if an increased wage is agreed to.
