50-year-old man arrested for assualting a teenage boy (16) “over salt” in Groblersdal
GROBLERSDAL – It is alleged that the teenage boy had asked the man to pass him the salt after buying food which erupted into an argument over who should use the seasoning first at a fat cake shop in the Game centre.
The argument which reportedly turned violent and was captured on the video that went viral, broke out after the victim and his cousin allegedly wanted to use the same seasoning as the suspect. The suspect then became furious and started assaulting the teenager while pointing him with a firearm. The other shoppers watched helplessly as the suspect assaulted the boy until he eventually left him lying on the ground.
UPDATE – 17 june 2022 – A 50-year-old man who was seen assaulting a teen-boy (16) over salt at a dining restaurant in Groblersdal mall has been arrested. The suspect was captured in the Marble Hall area. He appeared in Court Friday morning. He faces charges of assault, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and the unlawful pointing of a firearm.
